When burning your candle for the first time, let it burn for at least one hour for every inch in diameter . Then extinguish flame and let cool. The candle will be ready for next lighting. This allows the wax to pool and extend to the edge of the jar. It prevents the candle from forming a tunnel in the middle, so when you burn the candle again it will remember to burn to the edge.
